Readers theatre

Today we experimented with Readers Theatre. This was something new for me but I wanted to do something fun and educational since grades are already posted!!! My class was split into two groups that each performed a skit. One group did a fable called "the ant and the grasshopper," the other group did "Click, Clack Moo, Cows that type." the students practiced throughout the week and performed in front of the entire 2nd grade. They did an awesome job. I will use this strategy again next year because the students really enjoyed it!!!

Field Day

I wanted to share with you the outcome of our tie dyed t-shirts. They were a huge success at field day. We were able to spend the day doing many fun and interacting activities for field day, including water games, relay races, etc... All the students and teachers at my school were very impressed that we made our own shirts. This is something I will do for many years to come. Hopefully we can wear them this week on our field trip. :)

A Funky Twist in Social Studies

This quarter in Social Studies we have learned about how cotton is used to make clothes. We have studied the process of picking the cotton, to transforming it into shirts, dresses, sheets, etc.. To incorporate a fun activity into our learning we decided to tie dye our t-shirts. We learned about how cotton is white and has to be dyed different colors to get the desired look. This activity was perfect!!! We will be able to wear our funky tie dyed t-shirts to field day and upcoming field trips. I can't wait to see how they turn out!!!
